VijayThanks to everyone who made our 2018 TCDP Annual Convention a success! Our Democratic candidates have a vision for a more prosperous and inclusive North Carolina. But they can’t win without your support!

Our keynote speaker, Asheville City Councilman Vijay Kapoor, shared his keys or building a successful campaign. The first Asian-American ever to serve on the council and first south Asheville resident elected to the council in over a decade, Councilman Kapoor received the most votes of any 2017 council candidate.

After Councilman Kapoor’s speech, we heard from our local candidates:

  • Sam Edney, Candidate, NC House 113: Sam is a Henderson County native and local small business owner. He’s running because our low- and middle-classes are shrinking while the richest among us grow richer. Let’s send a strong voice to Raleigh who stands for economic prosperity for ALL in western North Carolina!
  • Norm Bossert, Candidate, NC Senate 48: Norm is a career educator and retired principal of the Black Mountain Elementary School. Norm stands for strong and safe public schools. He fired up the crowd before heading to the student-organized March for Our Lives event in Asheville.
  • Jon Coulman spoke on behalf of Phillip Price, who had to be in a million places Saturday because he is seeking the Democratic nomination for US Congress, District 11. From living wages to high-speed internet for western NC, read where Phillip stands on the issues.
  • Seth Donaldson spoke on behalf of his extremely busy Dad, Dr. Scott Donaldson. Scott is also seeking the Democratic nomination for US Congress, District 11. Learn more about Scott and get involved!
  • Marty Griffin, Board Member, Transylvania County Board of Education, is running for reelection and spoke about giving our teachers more resources and autonomy. He also spoke of the need for more counselors and School Resource Officers to make our schools safer. Questions for Marty? Email martyg@tcsnc.org or call him at 828.883.8707.
  • William Hemphill is our Democratic candidate for sheriff. Check out William’s Facebook page and support his campaign!

REMINDER: We have a contested race for our US Congress Democratic nomination. Phillip Price, Scott Donaldson, and Steve Woodsmall are running. See our Calendar of Events for Early Voting (starts April 19th) and Primary Election Day (Tuesday, May 8th) schedules.

Democrats are leading the fight for livable wages, good public schools, debt-free college, access to affordable health care, and taking a stand against gerrymandering and Republican attempts to rig the system.
