The votes are in, and McDowell County’s Phillip Price has won the Democratic Party nomination for US Congress, District 11.
Phillip runs a small, sustainable wood reclaiming business. He used to go without health care, risking bankruptcy if he ever got injured or sick. But under the Affordable Care Act, he has been able to provide health insurance for his family. He and his wife, Michelle, sent their three children to public schools in Western North Carolina. They have hiked these mountains, and fished the lakes and streams here for 34 years. And that’s long enough to have had their fill of politicians who get our votes and then cater to billionaires instead of us. Learn more about Phillip and his vision for Western North Carolina.
Read Phillip’s statement upon earning the Democratic nomination:
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the voters of western NC who have supported this campaign and have chosen me to be the Democratic nominee for the US House of Representatives to serve the 11th district.
I would also like to thank all of the great people that have
volunteered for this campaign, knowing how very important this race is for the future of so many people in Western North Carolina and across the nation.
I look forward to continuing our campaign of grassroots work to listen to the people of the mountains and find good ideas to produce solutions for problems and challenges that face us every day.
I believe that public office should be about finding ways to make people’s lives better, and that’s what I intend to do.” – Phillip
