GOP illegal Maps

North Carolina Republicans pass their partisan drawn congressional and legislative maps  

North Carolina Republicans, with the state supreme court in their favor, unveiled and passed new legislative and congressional maps. 

The congressional map would drastically change the congressional delegation from its current 7 Dems- 7 Republicans to a potential 11 Republicans- 3 Democrats scenario. This is one of the most aggressively gerrymandered congressional maps in the country. 

Statement from Governor Cooper: 

"Enabled by the State Supreme Court’s partisan reversal of constitutional law, Republican legislators have rolled out their latest illegal maps that show gerrymandering on steroids. Drawn in the back room and armed with their new law that keeps their plotting secret, they have used race and political party to create districts that are historically discriminatory and unfair."

  • We are not a conservative state. North Carolina has a Democratic Governor, a Democratic Attorney General and prior to 2024, a 7-7 delegation. These maps are not reflective of our state.

  • Republicans are trying to draw their way to victory

  • If Republicans truly believed they have a winning message that people want to vote for, they wouldn’t have to resort to these tactics
