Transylvania County Needs Medicaid

In the mountains of Western North Carolina we take care of our neighbors when they are sick, that’s why the Transylvania Democratic Party supports MEDICAID EXPANSION. The Covid-19 pandemic has exposed the lack of affordable and accessible healthcare for hard working North Carolinians, from teachers in Rosman to tradesmen in Raleigh. Republicans Chuck Edwards and Jake Johnson voted NO to Medicaid Expansion, increasing our neighbors’ chances of getting sick and going into medical debt.

Right now, working families in Transylvania County are having to pick between keeping the lights on and seeing the doctor - but we can change that. If we expand Medicaid, we can bring affordable health care to 1,983 of our neighbors in Transylvania County who fall in the health care coverage gap. That’s why North Carolina Democrats have made expanding Medicaid a top priority.

Economic Benefits of Expanding Medicaid
