Bad News Budd

North Carolina Veterans & Seniors Call Out Congressman Budd In Local News

Recent news coverage highlighted just how bad Congressman Budd is for North Carolina, and voters are calling him out across the state. Last week, veterans in Charlotte and Greensboro slammed Budd for voting against the Honoring Our PACT Act, which would provide health care to veterans exposed to toxic chemicals, including contaminated water right here at Camp Lejeune. In Asheville and Greenville, Gayle Kemp and Charles McLawhorn Jr. delivered a powerful rebuke of Republicans’ plan to sunset Medicare – health care that saved Gayle’s life when she suffered heart failure, and the imperative to unite against Congressman Budd.

Bad news for Budd:

  • WXII: Veterans urge passage of ‘Burn pits’ bill… NC Senate candidates are on opposing sides.

  • WSOC: Charlotte veterans call out Congressman Budd for voting against legislation supporting veterans exposed to toxic substances

North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Bobbie Richardson and Dr. Vikki Andrews, NCDP’s Veteran and Military Family Caucus Chair released the following joint statement on the U.S. Senate passage of the Honoring Our PACT Act and Congressman Ted Budd’s vote against the bipartisan piece of legislation:

“When leaders send brave young men and women who answered our nation’s call overseas, they have a responsibility to take care of them when they return home, including ensuring critical health care to treat illness and disease caused by war. With the passage of the Honoring Our PACT Act, for the first time in our nation’s history, veterans exposed to toxic burn pits are receiving the health care they have earned and deserve – no thanks to Congressman Ted Budd.

“Budd’s vote against this badly-needed legislation is appalling and proves how wrong he is for North Carolina, a state home to hundreds of thousands of veterans and their families. North Carolina’s veterans deserve better than politicians like Ted Budd who have failed to offer anything other than empty words.”
