TODAY’S REPUBLICAN PARTY

For over a decade, North Carolina Republicans have done damage to our state, passing corporate tax cuts instead of investing in education, undermining public health during the pandemic, cutting unemployment to one of the stingiest in the country, and blocking Medicaid expansion time after time.

North Carolina Democrats are making inroads in all parts of the state, fighting for jobs, education, justice, health care -- policies that will move our state forward, not backward.

It Matters that You Vote and Who You Vote for.

Republicans have Proven Again and Again that their Values and Policies are Not for Working People in America.

  • One year ago, President Biden and Democrats used their majority to pass the American Rescue Plan into law, helping get over 200 million Americans vaccinated, cutting health insurance premiums and taxes for families, providing funding to reopen schools, and helping small businesses.

  • Meanwhile, the Republican Party has spent the last few weeks telling voters exactly what they would do if they take power in November:

    • Republican Senator Ron Johnson confirmed that Republicans still want to repeal the Affordable Care Act. That would mean that:

      • More than 100 million Americans with preexisting conditions could lose insurance protections.

      • Americans with private insurance could see their premiums skyrocket.

      • Women could be charged more for their insurance.

      • Health insurance premiums could massively spike.

      • And, 21 million Americans could lose their insurance.

    • And Republicans have united behind Florida Senator and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Rick Scott’s plan to raise taxes on over half of Americans. One analysis found that Senator Scott’s plan would disproportionately fall on people making less than $100,000.

  • This is why Mitch McConnell desperately wanted to keep the Republican agenda hidden - a Republican majority would be devastating for Americans.

  • The choice could not be more clear: Republicans’ economic agenda is taking away health care from middle-class Americans, raising premiums, and hiking taxes on half of the country. President Biden and Democrats are focused on the steps he laid out in the State of the Union to lower costs for Americans: manufacturing more in America, breaking up supply chain bottlenecks that are raising prices, promoting competition, and reducing health care costs like prescription drugs.
